New day, new benchmarks. Today I've spun up brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Vultr and did some benchmarking. All instances were running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Without further ado, here's the results.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

Based on the provided benchmarks, the DigitalOcean Premium AMD instance with 4 CPUs and 8 GB of RAM consistently outperforms the Vultr High Frequency Intel instance with 1 CPU and 2 GB of RAM across various metrics, including CPU performance, Redis benchmarks, file I/O, and MySQL operations. DigitalOcean's instance shows superior performance in handling concurrent operations, read/write speeds, and overall throughput, making it ideal for CPU-intensive, memory-demanding, or I/O-heavy workloads. On the other hand, Vultr's instance, while more cost-effective, excels in simpler tasks and where minimal resources are sufficient, particularly for single-threaded or less demanding applications.
