New day, new benchmarks. Today I've spun up brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Vultr and did some benchmarking. Each instance was running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and all resided in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Time to see who showed up today.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

Upon comparing the benchmarks of DigitalOcean's Premium AMD and Vultr's High Performance AMD instances, it is clear that Vultr's instance offers superior performance in most metrics, particularly in CPU performance where it achieves higher requests per second across various operations and lower latency across the board. Vultr's instance also demonstrates stronger file I/O performance with higher read and write speeds, and better thread fairness. Conversely, DigitalOcean's instance shows more consistent latencies in memory operations, suggesting more efficient memory handling. Given these benchmarks, Vultr's High Performance AMD instance is recommended for CPU-intensive, I/O-heavy workloads where high throughput and low latency are crucial, while DigitalOcean's instance may be preferable for applications requiring stable memory performance with lower emphasis on high throughput.
