New day, new benchmarks. Today I've spun up brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Vultr to run some benchmarks on. All instances were running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Enough talk. Here's the data.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

In comparing the DigitalOcean and Vultr instances, it's clear that Vultr's High Performance Intel configuration leads in raw Redis benchmark performance with higher requests per second and lower latencies for many operations, indicating a slight edge in handling high-throughput, low-latency workloads. DigitalOcean’s Premium AMD instance, while slightly lower in Redis benchmarks, outperforms in CPU performance metrics and MySQL OLTP operations, showing better handling of CPU-intensive tasks and database operations. File I/O and memory benchmarks favor Vultr, but DigitalOcean's consistent latencies suggest more reliable performance across operations. Ideal use cases would lean toward Vultr for applications requiring high Redis throughput and low latencies, while DigitalOcean would be preferable for CPU-intensive and database-heavy workloads.
