DigitalOcean Premium Intel (2 GB) vs. Vultr High Performance AMD (2 GB, 2 Cores)
Same showdown, different day. Today I've spun up some brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Vultr and ran some benchmarks. All instances were spun up with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Enough talk. Here's the data.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
Upon analyzing the benchmarks for both DigitalOcean's Premium Intel (2 GB) and Vultr's High Performance AMD (2 GB, 2 Cores), we observe that DigitalOcean provides a more robust performance in Redis operations, with notably higher requests per second (rps) and lower latency across most operations, indicating superior performance in CPU-intensive tasks. However, Vultr shows stronger capabilities in file I/O and memory operations, with higher throughput and lower latencies. Both instances offer comparable MySQL performance and similar thread fairness, but Vultr's dual-core AMD processor provides competitive advantages in scenarios demanding higher throughput or parallel processing tasks. Ideal use cases for DigitalOcean's instance would be scenarios prioritizing high Redis performance, while Vultr's configuration might be more suitable for workloads that benefit from higher file I/O and memory throughput.
