Linode Linode (4 GB) vs. Vultr High Performance AMD (8 GB, 4 Cores)
Same showdown, different day. Today I've spun up some brand new instance from Linode and Vultr and ran some benchmarks. All instances were spun up with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Time to see who showed up today.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
When comparing the benchmark performance of Linode's "g6-standard-2" and Vultr's "vhp-4c-8gb-amd", it's evident that both instances offer strong capabilities but excel in different areas. The Linode instance, with its higher RAM and CPU configuration, provides slightly better performance in memory operations and CPU tasks, although Vultr's instance shows comparable results and slightly better performance in I/O operations. Vultr's instance, featuring more CPU cores and more advanced CPU model, generally outperforms in Redis operations and MySQL tasks, while Linode's setup shows robust performance in file I/O operations. Ideal use cases for Linode would be applications that benefit from high memory throughput and complex CPU-intensive operations, whereas Vultr would be preferable for workloads that demand higher core counts and favor rapid Redis interactions and MySQL operations.
