Provider news · May 2023
What the providers shipped
In May 2023, DigitalOcean's big move was the availability of PostgreSQL 15, finally getting up-to-date with the rest of the world's database servers, which should save developers some hair-pulling over in-place upgrades. Meanwhile, UpCloud launched Managed Databases for OpenSearch, giving users an easier route to scalable, highly available search and analytics — a nod to those who don't want to wrestle with the nitty-gritty themselves. Neither of these features screams game-changer, but for those in the know, they're useful tweaks that keep the providers relevant in the ever-evolving world of compute. (Finally, DigitalOcean, on the PostgreSQL front — you’re not exactly late, but you’ve been a tick behind.)
