UpCloud Balanced (2 GB) vs. UpCloud Balanced (2 GB, 2 Cores)
Fresh benchmarks coming at ya. Today I've spun up brand new instance from UpCloud to run some benchmarks on. All instances were running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Let's get into the numbers.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The UpCloud Balanced (2 GB) instance demonstrates strong performance in high-throughput Redis operations, with impressive rates like 130,208 RPS for basic commands, but struggles in more complex tasks such as LRANGE which has significantly higher latencies. This instance shines in single-threaded CPU-intensive tasks but shows average file I/O performance. The UpCloud Balanced (2 GB, 2 Cores) instance, despite having more cores, shows slightly better Redis performance with higher RPS rates and lower latencies for most commands, but similar struggles with LRANGE operations. It also exhibits better MySQL performance in bulk inserts and OLTP operations compared to the single-core counterpart. Both instances have similar memory and mutex performance, but the 2-core instance has better thread fairness and file I/O throughput. Ideal use cases for the 1-core instance are lightweight, single-threaded workloads that benefit from high throughput, while the 2-core instance is better suited for more CPU-intensive, multi-threaded applications with better support for complex database operations.
