Welcome to another round of the VPS Showdown. Today I've spun up brand new instance from Vultr and ran my world famous suite of benchmarking scripts. All instances were running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and all resided in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Time to see who showed up today.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
When comparing the Vultr High Frequency Intel and High Performance AMD instances, it's evident that the AMD instance, despite having more cores and higher CPU MHz, does not outperform the Intel instance in most metrics. The Intel instance excels in Redis benchmarks, achieving significantly higher requests per second and lower latency across various operations. The file I/O, memory, and MySQL benchmarks also favor the Intel instance, especially in throughput and latency. In contrast, the AMD instance shows better performance in CPU and thread fairness benchmarks, though the differences are not overwhelming. For CPU-intensive or memory-heavy workloads, the High Frequency Intel instance is more suited, while for workloads that benefit from higher core counts and slightly better CPU performance, the High Performance AMD instance may be preferable, although the difference in overall performance is relatively minor.
