Provider news · June 2022
What the providers shipped
June's offerings from VPS providers left a lot to be desired, with DigitalOcean taking the crown for overdue changes like nixing TLS 1.0/1.1 (finally, who are we kidding, it's 2022?), and renaming Floating IPs to Reserved IPs (because nomenclature matters, apparently) while phasing out legacy endpoints over the next year. UDP support on load balancers seems like a missed opportunity for a tech marvel, but hey, it's there if you need it. Meanwhile, UpCloud's Hot Resizing for Cloud Servers is the highlight — a breath of fresh air with vertical CPU/memory scaling for newly minted servers, but it's not like you need to be scaling up 24/7. If you're waiting on Kubernetes updates or lower-tier GPU plans, well, you'll just have to hold out a bit longer.
