What the providers shipped

In May 2022, DigitalOcean's contributions to the VPS landscape were predictably mixed, with their Functions & App Platform hitting GA (finally making it official), and Spaces showing some long-overdue security improvements by dropping TLS 1.1 downgrade and SHA1/DHE ciphers. Meanwhile, Linode announced a new IPv4 reserved plan that was desperately needed, and Vultr continued its trend of offering compute-heavy, GPU-optimized plans that feel like overkill for most developers. There was nothing groundbreaking here, but if you're a developer on a budget, Linode's new reserved IPv4 offering might just be the ticket.
