What the providers shipped

August 2022 saw DigitalOcean release a new CPU-Optimized Droplet, boasting a whopping 48 vCPUs and 96GB of RAM, like a CPU upgrade that’s more for show than for serious use. Meanwhile, Vultr continued its trend of overkill GPU plans, adding more of the $5 options nobody at that tier needs, while Linode slipped in an IPv4 reserved address (finally catching up). UpCloud kept it light with just a new Stavanger region (which should make them popular with Norwegian devs, though I doubt it). For developers, it’s all about choosing the right tool for the job, and while these changes are notable, none of them feel like they'll shake up the market much.
