What the providers shipped
September's release notes for DigitalOcean are like a buffet of half-baked ideas. They finally got around to implementing Functions with a generous 15-minute timeout and beta cron-like triggers, but don't expect any GPU-tier indulgences for that price point. Reserved IPs can now be orchestrated via API within projects — useful, if a tad late. Multi-namespace support for Functions is a neat organizational trick, and the new uptime monitoring, now out of beta, is a no-brainer for anyone not running on free tiers. Meanwhile, the rest of the market seems to have skipped this month entirely, or perhaps they're just too busy dreaming of a Kubernetes future.
