What the providers shipped
DigitalOcean's January update is a mixed bag, featuring PostgreSQL 17 for database clusters (still waiting for them to get that Ubuntu 24.04 thing sorted), Spaces SigV4 streaming uploads that sound like a feature that's finally arrived after a long wait, and the full rollout of Bitbucket app deployment on the App Platform. Linode, on the other hand, is all about scaling now: their Kubernetes Engine (LKE) gets some much-needed updates, and guess what—they're throwing GPU plans into the mix now. It's like they heard "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and decided to expand LKE's GPU offerings just to compete. Meanwhile, the VPC scalability limits and Object Storage tweaks seem like the kind of behind-the-scenes changes that will mean little to most, but that’s Linode for you: always tinkering under the hood.
