What the providers shipped
In May 2026, DigitalOcean has managed to pile on the features, starting with new cluster management for Weaviate and a fully-fledged GA for the App Platform's request-based autoscaling, which finally seems to get it right. MySQL 8.4 is available, and there's a public preview for DOKS SSO with OIDC. Oh, and 15% tax withholding for Tanzanian digital services—just in time for the next corporate tax audit. Meanwhile, Linode continues its slow march with log delivery metrics and alerts, SSO login, and the ever-important general availability for Cloud logs. The CNCF AI Conformance achieved by UpCloud's Kubernetes v1.35 clusters is a nice nod to the ML/AI crowd, but their new GPU servers—including the extravagantly named H100—feel like overkill unless you're really deep into the GPU game. On the other hand, Vultr's offering remains a little too heavy on the GPU side, with new usage graphs and expanded IAM policies adding negligible value. Overall, it's more of the same: a smorgasbord of features that might not impress, but are there if you need them.
