What the providers shipped

June 2026 was a bit of a mixed bag for our VPS providers. DigitalOcean, ever the cautious innovator, finally brought Private Droplets to general availability (finally) in a VPC-only mode that's as isolated as their infamous latency—across all regions. The serverless folks are still asking you to prepay for inference, now requiring a positive account balance for those queries. Meanwhile, the control panel’s got light/dark themes for those who need it. Linode, on the other hand, has been quietly updating its monitoring and Kubernetes services, now with the shiny addition of Kubernetes v1.33 support in LKE Enterprise and password-less Linodes. UpCloud has thrown its hat into the workspace ring with an Open Beta of their new Organization framework, and expanded its NFS-based File Storage to more regions. It’s all looking good for them—if you’re into that kind of thing. Vultr cranked out updates with VKE now supporting Kubernetes v1.36, and they're still selling that GPU overkill at bargain-basement prices.
