What the providers shipped

In July 2026, DigitalOcean continued to tinker with its Kubernetes service, unveiling a public preview for automatic node remediation and a node readiness controller to block pod scheduling until everything's shipshape — particularly if you're running GPUs. They also launched a managed Weaviate vector database and Ubuntu 26.04 LTS for those clinging to long-term support. Linode, meanwhile, upgraded its Linode Kubernetes Engine to v1.34 and added the ability to reserve public IPv4 addresses, alongside a revamp of its billing model for G8 and GPU instances, and introduced its ludicrously overpowered 8-card RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPU instances, presumably for those needing every single CUDA core they can get (are they even overkill yet?). UpCloud, not to be outdone, rolled out spot pricing for its GPU servers, offering reduced costs for those interruptible workloads that can survive a bit more uncertainty. Honestly, if you're not using something like that 8-GPU Linode beta, are you even trying?
