Welcome to another round of the VPS Showdown. Today I spun up fresh instances from DigitalOcean and UpCloud to run some benchmarks on. All instances were running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and were created in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Without further ado, here's the results.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The DigitalOcean Premium AMD (2 GB) instance edges out the UpCloud Balanced (2 GB) in overall performance, particularly in CPU benchmarks where it registers higher Redis RPS values like 71225.07 for PING_INLINE and file I/O operations with faster throughput rates of 31.45 MiB per second reads and 20.97 MiB per second writes, compared to UpCloud's 58.85 MiB per second reads and 39.24 MiB per second writes. Opt for the DigitalOcean instance if you prioritize CPU-intensive or I/O-heavy tasks, balancing between cost and performance.
