Same showdown, different day. Today I've got brand new instances from DigitalOcean and Vultr and ran some benchmarks. All instances were running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Enough talk. Here's the data.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The Vultr Cloud Compute (2 GB) instance outperforms the DigitalOcean Regular (2 GB) instance across most benchmarks, particularly in Redis SET operations with 52,192.07 requests per second compared to DigitalOcean's 40,112.31, and in MySQL bulk insert transactions with 186,460.11 transactions per second versus DigitalOcean's 82,488.07. For users needing high throughput for I/O-intensive or CPU-bound tasks, Vultr offers superior performance, making it the better choice for demanding applications.
