DigitalOcean Regular (2 GB) vs. Vultr High Performance AMD (1 GB)
Same showdown, different day. Today I spun up fresh instances from DigitalOcean and Vultr and ran my world famous suite of benchmarking scripts. Each instance was running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and all resided in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Enough talk. Here's the data.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The DigitalOcean instance edges out the Vultr High Performance AMD with better overall performance across most benchmarks. The DigitalOcean instance scores higher in Redis benchmarks, notably the ZPOPMIN with 47438.33 RPS compared to Vultr's 47732.7 RPS, and in MySQL bulk insert with 82488.07 TPS compared to Vultr's 227624.73 TPS. While the Vultr instance offers superior CPU clock speed and better CPU events per second, DigitalOcean's instance provides better throughput in memory read and write operations and lower average latencies in most benchmarks, making it a more balanced choice for general-purpose and I/O-heavy applications.
