DigitalOcean Regular (2 GB) vs. Vultr High Performance AMD (1 GB)
Same showdown, different day. Today I've spun up brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Vultr to run some benchmarks on. All instances were spun up with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Let's get into the numbers.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
After analyzing the benchmarks for both DigitalOcean's Regular (2 GB) and Vultr's High Performance AMD (1 GB) instances, it's clear that both offer strong performance, but excel in different areas. DigitalOcean's instance demonstrates high Redis throughput and latency, especially in commands like LRANGE, indicating its strength in memory-intensive tasks. Vultr's AMD EPYC-based instance, however, surpasses DigitalOcean in overall CPU performance, showing superior event processing rates and lower latency in CPU benchmarks. File I/O and memory operations also favor Vultr with higher throughput and faster read/write operations. Considering these metrics, DigitalOcean would be ideal for memory-intensive applications like Redis, whereas Vultr would better suit CPU-heavy workloads and scenarios requiring fast file I/O operations.
