What the providers shipped

January 2023 was a bit of a yawn for the VPS crowd, with DigitalOcean quietly deprecating their legacy LB scaling and introducing horizontal LB scaling in all regions. Meanwhile, UpCloud made a big, albeit overdue, switch to Euro as their base currency to reduce the risk of currency fluctuation, with pricing that looks like it's been massaged to avoid the chaos of the USD. It’s all well and good, but the real question remains: when are they going to start offering Kubernetes support comparable to what Linode or DigitalOcean have been serving up? (finally, it seems, everyone's waking up to the compute and storage needs of developers).
