Provider news · January 2024
What the providers shipped
January 2024 brought a smidgen of action to the VPS landscape with DigitalOcean unceremoniously dumping the Kubernetes Dashboard from the DOKS control panel (finally, someone's trimming the fat), while also toying with Cilium's Hubble suite and enabling its tools. Linode kept its head down, releasing two versions of its Kubernetes Engine—LKE v1.60.0 and a patch update to v1.59.0. Meanwhile, UpCloud expanded its Kubernetes service across all 13 of its global locations, and added Private Cloud connectivity to Object Storage in Europe. If you're looking for a reason to switch providers, this wasn't it, but at least Kubernetes is making a strong, if unexciting, presence everywhere now.
