Provider news · February 2024

What the providers shipped

February's update from DigitalOcean had the usual sprinkle of incremental wins, like daily backups in NYC1 and AMS3 (always in those places, never Sydney or Mumbai), crash logs for App Platform, and API-managed DB reconfiguration (that last one's been cooking for ages). Meanwhile, Linode slid out a new LKE version, 1.63.0, which might actually matter if you're not stuck in the old 1.62.x world. UpCloud tried to impress with SDN private network connectivity for Managed Databases (nice but not new) and a Load Balancer metrics view that sounds helpful until you realize it's probably overkill for most developers. If only they'd hurry up on that GPU plan for those few developers actually interested in running a high-end render farm on a budget.
