Provider news · May 2024
What the providers shipped
May 2024 saw DigitalOcean adding daily backups to SFO2 and TOR1, as well as new CSV exports for billing (finally getting to the nitty-gritty of project spend), and introducing purchase order tracking because apparently it’s still 2024 and we're only now tracking invoices like responsible adults. Linode has again nudged its LKE capabilities forward with support for custom labels and taints, trying to stay competitive in the node configuration arena. UpCloud, meanwhile, is a little bit too keen on Kubernetes, adding it to its Private Cloud and pushing out the Crossplane Provider for managing resources via Kubernetes manifests, while also starting the process of scrubbing those outdated CentOS 7 and Debian 10 templates (finally, someone's cleaning up the legacy mess). Zero-cost egress is also now in the mix, replacing the old Network Transfer Pool and letting users breathe a sigh of relief when looking at their monthly bills.
