What the providers shipped

November's tech theater sees DigitalOcean sneaking in some back-end updates like CLI-based console access and a Heroku-based Node.js buildpack, but it's all shadowed by Linode's GPU plan overkill at the $5 tier and the long-overdue reintroduction of their Database service. Meanwhile, Linode's new Frankfurt 2 Data Center and beta App Platform on LKE show they're still playing catch-up with Kubernetes. UpCloud quietly expanded Managed Object Storage, and finally, they’ve got you covered in Chicago, while also making sure your system-level DB logs can be sent to OpenSearch and Rsyslog. But if you're still waiting for the per-second billing that makes the math nicer (DigitalOcean, where've you been?), then maybe it's time to think about actually switching providers.
