DigitalOcean Regular (2 GB) vs. Linode Nanode (1 GB)
Welcome to another round of the VPS Showdown. Today I've spun up some brand new instance from DigitalOcean and Linode and ran my world famous suite of benchmarking scripts. Each instance was spun up with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Let's get into the numbers.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
When comparing the two instances, DigitalOcean's Regular (2 GB) outperforms Linode's Nanode (1 GB) in most benchmarks, especially in Redis operations where it shows significantly higher request rates per second and lower latencies for most commands. The DigitalOcean instance also excels in CPU and memory benchmarks with higher throughput and lower latencies for file operations and memory reads and writes. However, Linode's instance, despite having less RAM and CPU, performs better in MySQL operations, particularly in OLTP read-write tasks. The DigitalOcean instance might be more suitable for applications that require high memory throughput and lower latency for Redis operations, while the Linode instance would be more advantageous for workloads that emphasize database performance, especially complex read-write operations.
