UpCloud Balanced (1 GB) vs. Vultr High Frequency Intel (1 GB)

vs.

Welcome to another round of the VPS Showdown. Today I've got brand new instances from UpCloud and Vultr and ran my world famous suite of benchmarking scripts. All instances were spun up with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Time to see who showed up today.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

The UpCloud Balanced instance (1 GB) outperforms the Vultr High Frequency Intel instance in most benchmarks, particularly in Redis operations where UpCloud records higher request per second (rps) rates and lower latencies across various commands like SET, GET, LPUSH, and ZADD. While Vultr excels in MySQL bulk inserts with a throughput of 177195.12 transactions per second (tps), UpCloud's overall benchmark results in CPU and memory operations suggest it is more suited for CPU-heavy workloads. Given the superior performance in most critical metrics, UpCloud would be a better choice for applications requiring high processing speed and efficiency.
