DigitalOcean Regular (1 GB) vs. Linode Linode (2 GB)
Same showdown, different day. Today I spun up fresh instances from DigitalOcean and Linode and did some benchmarking. Each instance was spun up with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and were created in the New York area (or close to it). Time to see who showed up today.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The DigitalOcean Regular (1 GB) instance outperforms the Linode Linode (2 GB) in most benchmarks, especially in Redis commands where it achieves significantly higher request rates per second with lower latencies, and it also excels in MySQL bulk insert operations. For CPU-intensive tasks and applications requiring low latency and high throughput, the DigitalOcean instance is the clear winner due to its superior Redis and MySQL performance, making it a better choice for budget-conscious users needing more headroom.
