Same showdown, different day. Today I spun up fresh instances from DigitalOcean and Linode and did some benchmarking. All instances were spun up with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and were created in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Without further ado, here's the results.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

The Linode instance with 1 CPU core and 2 GB of RAM outperforms the DigitalOcean instance with 1 GB of RAM in nearly every benchmark, particularly excelling in Redis RPS (DigitalOcean 44,723 vs. Linode 76,104) and CPU performance (DigitalOcean events per second 815.71 vs. Linode 737.68). While the Linode instance has higher costs, it provides significantly better performance, making it a better choice for CPU-intensive and memory-demanding applications where higher throughput is critical.
