My friend, I'm so glad you're here! Today I've got brand new instances from Linode and Vultr and did some benchmarking. Each instance was spun up with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and all resided in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Without further ado, here's the results.

Conclusion
From the friendly robots:
The Vultr Cloud Compute instance outperforms the Linode (2 GB) in almost all benchmarks, particularly in Redis benchmarks where it achieves significantly higher requests per second with lower latency, such as 50,838.84 RPS with 0.605 ms average latency compared to Linode's 18,789.93 RPS with 1.625 ms average latency. For CPU operations, Vultr also leads with 1,435.42 events per second versus Linode's 1,405.31, though both show low latencies. Vultr excels in throughput metrics, particularly in memory operations with 7,568,455 operations per second for reads and 7,598,419 for writes. For use-cases, Vultr is better suited for CPU and memory-intensive tasks due to its higher performance in these benchmarks.
