Same showdown, different day. Today I've got brand new instances from DigitalOcean and Linode and ran some benchmarks. Each instance was running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x64 and all resided in or around the New York / New Jersey area. Enough talk. Here's the data.

Conclusion

From the friendly robots:

The Linode instance (Linode g6-standard-1) performs notably better in the benchmarks, particularly in Redis benchmarks with significantly higher request per second (rps) and lower latency metrics compared to the DigitalOcean instance. The Linode instance achieves an impressive 76103.5 rps with minimal latency for Redis PING_INLINE, while the DigitalOcean instance lags behind with 62073.25 rps. For use cases requiring high throughput and low latency, such as real-time databases or cache servers, the Linode instance is the superior choice. However, for budget-conscious users needing a reliable yet cost-effective solution, the DigitalOcean instance offers respectable performance at a lower price point.
